I just couldn’t resist posting this wedding dress made by Glasgow School of Art trained artist Hazel Moore. From what I can work out, this was her degree show piece, but her plans are to enter the ‘New Sensations 2012 Exhibition‘ from Saatchi. Reading her idea for Sensations, I hope she gets to make it, sounds amazing (especially the ‘vulva shaped confetti’);
“The new work, a large-scale indoor soft furnishing in the shape of a vulva will be created in order to change the appearance of a traditional taboo into a celebration of the female form. The labyrinthine character of the object will be explored by the visitors of the exhibition as well as during a performance. Reusing the Sheela-na-Gig wedding dress the performance will climax in an explosion of vulva shaped confetti, further enveloping the audience in this celebration.”
Here she is working on the dress;

We currently have a huge backlash on Australian television because an advertisement featured the word ‘vagina’ – I’d love to see what would happen if we featured this dress. WOW!
I get the feeling this is more pretentious than anything else. I fail to see how it’s artistic..
