Art and creativity inspired by Anatomy and Science

Devon Urquhart

A nice little random bit of anatomical art here, created by artist Devon Urquhart for the exhibition: XX: A tribute to the female chromosomes. Reading about her influences, it makes sense;

As a young girl sitting at the breakfast table, I would imagine that not only was I feeding myself, but thousands of little people who lived inside me—miniature people who were responsible for keeping my body going…..I found it interesting (still do) that varying species are so different and yet so similar, with hearts that pump blood, stomachs that digest food, and brains that control movement, thoughts, and desires….That is a very big deal. In my art, I attempt to capture—in miniature form—something of that grandness.

You can see more of her work on her Etsy site.
