Dutch born artist Herman Henstenburgh [1667 – 1726] produced these still life watercolours circa 1700. These paintings progress the floral notoriety of the dutch artists into combine the scientific approach to still life with something who’s emphasis was on decoration. Read more about him here.

These paintings are beautiful. I am amazed they were painted c.1700. I don’t ever remember seeing art like this from that period.
