Black Eyed Suzies’s dolls are a nice balance of eery, frail, vulnerable….. and heart broken.
“The figurines are made from paperclay, a very fine and durable form of papier maché that is built up in layers. It is dried and sanded between each layer, resulting in a smooth, porcelain-like finish. They are finished with acrylic paints, pencil and archival pens, then sealed with a matte varnish. Their arms are constructed over a wire armature and can be posed at the elbow and shoulder joints. Their necks, wrists & fingers are reinforced with a wire core and two-part epoxy for added strength during shipping. Their clothing is made from silk and upcycled vintage clothing.” [quoted from Suzies site]
