anatomy UK

Art and creativity inspired by Anatomy and Science

Venice Biennale 6: Luciano Ventrone

Can you guess what this immaculate painting by Luciano Ventrone is? As a medical illustrator, it’s easy to think it’s depicting skin, fat and internal organs, so naturally it caught my eye……

…in fact, it is a pomegranate! ‘Mosaic’ is created with Oil on canvas, and believe me, you have to stand very close to be able to see the brush lines. So although this isn’t actually anatomy related, for the mere fact it looks so visceral and turned out to be my second favourite artwork (favourite revealed on day 10), it gets a post.

He exhibited at the Albemarle Gallery, London in 2008, so hopefully he’ll be back in the UK soon.
